My name is Cynthia, I reside in Nevada.  I am a 13-year truck driver, and I’m on the road 85% of the time.  When I’m home, I cook… it’s my therapy… I LOVE to cook! 

Growing up in Houston Texas our family enjoyed our bonding time at the dinner table that tradition stuck with me.  Now that my kids are all grown up, over-cooking became the norm, so I began to share our dinner with the homeless. I see it as a win-win.  Cooking is my passion-therapy, and they need and deserve a hot meal.  In addition to the food, I give one gift a month that usually includes person hygiene products. My plan is too semi-retire, however my passion for cooking and serving others is something I will continue.

 

Seven years, and hundreds of plates later I formed a new Nevada Non-Profit named, Treasure Chest Outreach, Inc. 501c3 (pending)

 

“Our mission is to feed, and assist the homeless Las Vegas community one plate at a time.”

 

Even though we try not to turn anyone away we specifically target the most venerable those walking, no bus pass, living underground or in freeway tunnels, sleeping in parks and bus stops.  

There’s nothing like the Joy in the face of someone that just enjoyed a hot delicious meal.  It’s priceless!

 

We are currently serving 50 – 100 people monthly, and during the holidays we’d love to triple or quadrupole our reach.

 

Our goal is raising $50,000 - Start Up

 

We plan to secure a storage, a kitchen rental, or office with a full kitchen and, four staff members. We will also continue to maintain compliance requirements with the state along with other start up expenses.
